Syrah du Monde

For his first edition, this international competition have bring together 325 wines made from the Syrah/Shiraz varietal from 17 countries. The goal of this qualitative confrontation is to select the world's best Syrah/Shiraz wines. Its ambition is therefore to highlight Syrah/Shiraz wines from throughout the world each year by presenting medals that are reliable and thus representative.

The Syrah varietal was born a very long time ago on the hillsides of the northern Rhône Valley. It has since been spread successfully to other French regions and all over the world. As such, Syrah/Shiraz wines display a rich array of sensory characteristics that reflect their different terroirs, climates and winemaking practices.

This meeting will therefore offer a unique occasion to bring together and discover Syrah/Shiraz wines in all their forms: red, rosé, still, sparkling, dry or sweet.

Syrah du Monde® is supported by an organising team composed of wine and grape professionals. The team have more than 15 years of experience in creating and organising international wine competitions, which over the years have distinguished themselves from other international tastings thanks to quality standards that go well beyond the norm.

This event is unique in terms of its scope,
its method and therefore its ambition:
International in scope:
  • Wines from all over the world
  • International expert judges, including 55% from outside France.
A strict method:
  • Compliance with international wine competition rules (OENO 2/94) and strict application of the ISO 9002 Quality Assurance standard.
  • Guaranteed implementation of scoring criteria for international competitions.
  • Rigorous selection of the panel of expert judges.
  • Training in tasting methodology at the Paul Bocuse Institute, with individual assessment of each taster.
  • Faultless, quality-driven organisation: limitation of the number of wines per jury and ideal tasting conditions (sensory isolation, proper tasting rhythm, etc.)
  • Secure computer processing of results by the Services Actions Qualité Company.
Ambition:
  • To award reliable and thus representative medals each year, reflecting the founding motto of Syrah du Monde®: diversity, quality and high standards.
